The city of Aachen is a green city in a spacious valley. The city is surrounded by fields, woods and hills. Nearby you can find the "Three-Countries-Point"(Germany, Netherlands, Belgium) and the wildlife resorts called Hohes Venn and Eifel.

The city is friendly for pedestrians. The streets are excellent for strolling and window shopping. Aachen is a metropole in the middle of nature and has a southern atmosphere to it. It is a modern city with many historic buildings.

Aachen is a city with a long history and a famous Dom (cathedral). The Aachen Dom is still the city's most remarkable building. Charlemagne's tomb can be found in this church. The beautiful palace of Aachen can be found at the marketplace. In the course of years it was rebuilt regularly and it is now the city's Town Hall.

Nightlife
Aachen is a student city and has the highest number of bars per inhabitant in Germany. This is also partly a reason for the young atmosphere in the city.

The Aachen marketplace is the most popular place to meet other people especially in the warmer seasons. It has a very busy nightlife with a lot of bars and restaurants which have many outdoor places. The best bars and clubs can be found in the long  Pontstraße - a street that starts at the marketplace.

The entertainment center is pretty compact: everything is within walking distance, which makes it ideal for an evening of fun. You can reach the entertainment center from the Forum M convention center on foot in just a couple of minutes.
